Who are we?
Our story really starts with you, the client. Even though every project brings a similar set of problems to solve: schedule, budget, efficiency, building code constraints, and aesthetic design we recognize and understand no two clients and projects are alike. That is why we work with our clients to gain an understanding of your unique needs and provide a tailored solution to your project. We are passionate about providing you with the right solutions.
We believe architecture is part art and part science. It is as much about being creative as it is knowing and understanding how buildings are put together. It is understanding how people use the built environment and interact with it. It is knowing the latest codes and standards and possessing an eye for the aesthetic. At DS Architects, Inc. we strive to provide our clients with a balance between finding an aesthetically pleasing solution and one that also meets your financial and time objectives.

Derek Slupka
Derek Slupka, Principal, has been a registered Architect in the State of Michigan since 1991. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects. He is the former Director of Architecture and Director of Information Technology at a Detroit, Michigan based construction company. He has held numerous community board and committee positions.
Brian O'Neill
Brian O'Neill, Architectural Project Coordinator, has over 24 years of commercial architectural experience. He has experience with field investigation, product specifications and an eye for detail and accuracy in construction planning and drawings. He has been involved in hundreds of interior projects over the years and brings a sophisticated understanding of producing construction drawings.
Kyle Morang
Kyle Morang, CAD Technician 2, has an Associates in Applied Science and CAD Engineering from Alpena Community College and a Bachelor in Architecture and Design from Lawrence Technical University. He has 4 years of experience in design, graphic works, field investigation, product selection/ specifications, space planning, construction detailing, contractor coordination, construction document preparation, and construction administration services.
Allison Miller
Allison Miller, CAD Technician 1, has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from College for Creative Studies. She has worked on various projects with multiple Michigan based companies specializing in product selections/specifications, 3D modeling/ rendering, space planning, and design development.
Kari Charboneau
Kari Charboneau, Office Coordinator, is the newest member of the DS Architects team. She comes to us with experience in office management as well as marketing and advertising. Kari assists the other team members in a support role and is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and preparation of proposals. She enjoys the outdoors and camping when not traveling to watch her daughter play softball.
